Using grant funding, we have created a group for neurodivergent adults and their caregivers to learn more about what a truly healthy, safe relationship looks and feels like. We will be running a six week educational workshop for neurodivergent adults to learn about healthy relationships, while simultaneously running a group for paid and unpaid caregivers to learn how to better support these relationships.
Why not just focus on educating neurodivergent adults? Education doesn't happen in a bubble, and we can't expect people to make changes and practice what they learn if their environments and supports are not reinforcing this information. Each adult will be required to have at least one caregiver (parent, guardian, family member, respite provider, home staff, or other support person) attend a separate training (at the same time) to learn what they can do to support healthy relationships and sexuality.
If you're interested in signing up, the requirements are:
-Neurodivergent adult who is 18 years or older, and must have 1-2 caregivers (paid or unpaid) able to attend also
-Neurodivergent adult is a Medicaid recipient
-Ability to get transportation to/from all six trainings, located at Community Living Alliance (1414 MacArthur Rd in Madison)
The group will start on Monday, October 9th and run 4:30-6pm. We will meet weekly for six weeks, and all participants will receive binders and materials to take home.
To register, please complete our registration form and we will reach out to you within 2 business days to confirm. Please note that space is limited, and if we have more participants sign up than we can accommodate they will be added to a wait list.
We do have funding budgeted for interpretations services as well.
